How to post instagram pics in much higher resolution
« on: August 06, 2015, 11:29:59 pm »
Just an information for you guys: Instagram recently (since first week of July I believe) upgraded their image resolution from 640x640 (0.41 megapixels) to 1080x1080 (1.17 megapixels), but they still display the old resolution with their current interface. You can easily get to the images in higher resolution though, by checking the source code (CTRL+U in firefox) and then searching for jpg (CTRL+F in firefox). The first URL with jpg at the end is the image in higher resolution. Copy and paste it to our forum with the image button
in the editor and this is what you get.

Example from Nikki Giovanni's instagram account in new resolution:

Old image resolution, as still displayed on the instagram web site:

Mods: Feel free to pin this somewhere everyone can see it. :)

In Firefox, you can also go to View, then Page Style, and choose "No Style".  That will just display all the raw images on the page, without any formatting or resizing.  You can also more easily right-click to save the images.

Sadly their supported video quality is still 640x640.

It's horrible to look at on my 4k desktop monitor and hell it's even horrible on my QHD mobile phone... -.-
I really don't understand  the idea behind nerfing down the resolution.
And that's not where it ends, also the encoding quality is just bad bad bad...

Don't get me wrong, i'm happy we have a platform where so many girls share their content, but there's room for a lot of improvement...
Quality over quantity :)

Yes, that's about the SD area on the full image below here...

It's probably an issue of server power, bandwidth and webspace limitations. Amping up the resolution amps up the demand for these three things as well and all the hot chicks that drive instagram don't seem to mind the crappy resolution and horrible filters, in fact - they love it.

Thanks, Azathoth - good tip.

When one does that, it's worth first right-clicking on the image, and choosing "view image" (or similar option).

Then, you can remove the resize code (if present) eg.

for even larger images, up to 1080 pixels wide and sometimes FAR taller (height dimension)!

^ wtf wtf?

Isn't one of the slogans here at theperfectboobs, "bigger is better"?

This page describes how to save the largest images available.

Of course, you may prefer small photos.

If you want to step methodically through an Instagram user's pages, DRAG the " LOAD MORE " link from the bottom of each page, to the address field at the top of your browser window, thus loading the user's previous 12 posts.

If you save internet shortcuts to each page of images, to your computer along with the images/videos, you can keep track of what you've collected and avoid revisiting the same pages in the future.

If you want to download the images from an entire instagram account with one click, you can use the free program 4k Stogram.

https://www.4kdownload.com/de/products/product-stogram

I just tried that out to download the instagram of Alina Lewis, because the pictures are identical to her facebook, but higher quality (instagram pics to facebook transfer strangely downgrades them from 1080p to 960p, even though facebook allows larger res. up to 2048p).

fabolous

That's CJ Miles.

If you use Firefox, the Add-On "Who stole my pictures?" allowes you to do a simple, one click reverse image search via google images and a couple of other search engines.

Speaking of Instagram, I currently use the Firefox Add-On "Instagram save" for simple right click saving and viewing of the full resolution instagram pictures. A simple, but effective tool.
