Finding the right expander
m199333:
Hey guys,
My girlfriend wants to go bigger:)
We alredy found an surgeon who is doing it.
He told us there are two types of expander implants. 1 where the valve is on the side of the breast. 2. The valve is right next to the nipple.
Does anyone has experience? Any preferences/ advice?
Thanks in advance

To the side the valves move, and the "hose" between the port and the implant can get compressed making it very difficult to fill, and impossible to drain. However, this happens only when you pass about the 4000cc mark (based on memory). The port can also move, especially when the implant flips or moves. But otherwise are OK.
The type under the nipple are terrible, and any surgeon recommending it as an option should be seriously questioned by the patient as to the Dr's actual experience. They are notoriously difficult to fill, even with the "magnetic" locators, and actual surgeons doing the fills post-op, marking the area carefully, have still ruptured implants by inserting the needle INTO THE IMPLANT instead of in the port. Avoid those at all costs.
Who is your prospective surgeon?

Thank you for your opinion. This was very helpful.
He just told us he can find the port with a locator. Didnt know that it is that difficult.
Are there any experience about how long an expander can stay? Do they need to be exchange after a couple of years?
The surgeon is from germany.

Beshine must have had hers for nearly 10 years now.

I am a bit of a Kraut, for an American. I like to think of it more like a statement of facts, rather than an opinion. I try to avoid opinions =)
I will try to only open my mouth if I have something useful to say. I have two wives who are XXL enhanced. We have been through a number of issues, like popped implants (both expanders and normal) and one of them posts on here as TitsMcGee3750. She was at 7125cc or so (each) when her first set of expanders popped. I hope the experiences that have already been paid for can be of help.

EnglishGirl, a somewhat well-known early adopter of expanders had her fills done professionally by a plastic surgeon. He pierced hers twice, and she had to have them replaced. This is not a risk I would even consider.

Per the very experienced doctor that did TMG's, they are only rated for their CC amounts (2000cc for the first set) and only have a warranty for 18-24 months depending on the manufacturer. They fail. Expect them to fail, and have a reserve of cash for when they do. They were initially intended only for temporary use in tissue expansion, such as one might undergo before a surgery where skin is replaced after being completely removed (mastectomy, burns, etc). Newer models of implant are possibly higher tolerance for being overfilled, but the shape can be unflattering when only filled to rated capacity. That will be something your doctor may have better information on.
The longevity of the implant will depend greatly on circumstances of your particular living set up. A more active lifestyle means more risk of a rupture.

I will refrain from making any substantial affirmative stereotypes, but I expect she (and you) are in good hands. I would be interested to hear your costs and experience once this is over.
