Hey ThomasSmith......I got great legs too You could do worse!
With most young women these days you'd run into problems as soon as you'd mention "I wear the pants - period."
How old are the two of you if I may ask? My wild guess is that your wife is quite a bit younger than you.
That is very true! A lot of women wouldn't like that attitude at all.
So to the soap box:
Lets be clear: I am not some old, rich fat guy that my wife lives off. She is 10 years my junior. That is not a tremendous age difference and I stay in shape etc so there is no problem. We go places like a cafe and the waitress will say"hey you guys look like Ken and Barbie"! Its not a mismatch situation.
About wearing the pants: I treat my wife with 100% respect. She is my first priority and my first consideration in any thing I do and any decisions I make. I never disregard her opinions nor neglect her feelings.
I try everyday to let her know that she is important to me in every way. She understands that I work hard and I provide for us and our family. I insulate her from the problems of my business as she insulates me from running the household. Each of us have our role...and there in lies the key.
Its not about whose boss. Its about accepting a role within a relationship. She is not a second class citizen in our marriage, she is not made to feel of lesser worth than me BUT she knows that she cannot do what I do and provide what i do. But rather than be angry or resentful she plays on her strengths and qualities to support me and our marriage. Thats why many relationships don't work.... because people cant work as a team, each fights for the upper hand rather than accepting their own limitations and knowing their strengths and using both to make the union strong, better and richer.
Any day my wife wants to run my business (or any business in fact) and earn what I earn to keep our current lifestyle I would happily hand over the reins...trust me I'd love the rest!
I think its a matter of finding a women with more behind her forehead and more inside her chest than whats in front of it. And that aint easy. Honor, loyalty, commitment and reason are rare qualities indeed in both men and women these days. People are too quick to give up, break promises and just walk away...only to repeat the cycle elsewhere.
On a lighter note...leaving Monday morning for the US. A few days in Vegas the off to Florida for the upgrade on the24th.
