Account blocked when accessed through Tor
« on: August 24, 2022, 09:42:21 pm »
Hi, I have recently started using Brave Browser and today wanted to access the forum using Braves builtin Tor feature, but I got a message saying that my account was banned indefinitely because of spamming. This seemed confusing, as I currently have 0.0013 posts per day  ;D
However when I access the site through normal incognito mode everything is fine, can somebody explain this to me?

Thanks, thought I was hacked there for a second  :-X

Blocks are done on either username, email and/or IP address.
When we block someone who's spamming, we usually block their IP, because they usually make new accounts and emails anyway.
And on the Tor Network, you just get assigned a random one. It's possible that IP address was previously used by a spammer (most spammers use the tor network, so chances that you get blocked are higher there).
I want something good to die for, to make it beautiful to live.

Same happens to me with TOR if I open up too many topics in tabs too fast.
I guess the forum sees a lot of activity from the same IP in a short amount of time and it looks suspicious.
If I wait until a tab is loaded and then open another, and another it is fine.
I think it is a combination of IP and the interval for a page request.
