I'm no fashion expert or anything, but isn't the age of hipster glasses over by now?
I thought that those hipster glasses were horrible, but now looking at these over-sized round harry potter glasses, 80s oversized rayban shapes etc. I just wish that girls would wear hipsters again. Its funny how in the 2010s girls look better than ever, but the glasses fashion comes straight from bad 90s comedy series. Luckily it seem that the small frames are slowly coming back. Maybe in 2020s glasses are sexy again. I just loved the glasses fashion around 2005. You never had to be scared if your new date had glasses, they always looked hot with them.
And yes I am aware of the irony of saying I wore them before they were cool when it comes to hipster fashion. Also I got tons of compliments years back when I started wearing them, and now I get zero. So yeah, maybe they've gone mainstream, and maybe it's over. When I got them you had to get RayBan Wayfarers, take out the sunglasses and have optic lenses installed. Now RayBan has tonnes of non-sun glasses.
Its fun how the depiction of "nerd" changed. Back in the 2000s people wearing big glasses were consided nerdy and unattractive (like Ugly Betty and several nerds in different TV series) and small petite frames were considered elegant and beautiful. Suddendly the big glasses got popular and now especially the younger people consider petite frames nerdy. They are mostly associated here with "unsexy" girls studying computer science.
Nonetheless, it depends a lot on the country you live in. Here you practically never see nothing but those over sized harry potter glasses, raybans, feminist frames and hipsters, but when I spent my summer in Central Europe, I met several French, Austrian and German girls who still wore small frames and looked absolutely stunning.
