Thank you for your question. I would first find out why her platelets are that low. The normal is about 400,000 and we would definitely like them at least around 100,000 or there can be issues with not clotting. I am not so sure about cortisone boosting her values. I have administered platelets prior to surgeries but usually not for elective cases. Also, the value could fluctuate. So, I would first find out what is going on. Maybe re-visit the hematologist or get another opinion. There has to be a cause for that like medication, herbs, etc.
Presuming that the platelets were OK, then it would depend on what size she would like to increase her breasts. As a quide, every about 120-150cc increases the cup size by one. If she wants an XL size to about 1500, then I would recommend an 800cc saline implant. I sometimes can go from 0-1000cc in one surgery but depends on patient. If she wishes to really go XL, over 1500cc, then I would recommend my custom tissue expanders which provides flexibility. Also, you may want to look through the info on my XL site-www.XLbreastimplants.info. I hope that answers your questions? Dr. Ed Domanskis
